Innovation & Technology Engineer


About the Role

 

As an Innovation & Technology Engineer, you will play a key role in driving our innovation agenda from early-stage concept through to commercialisation. Working across our Safety Gloves and Safety Footwear product lines, you will identify, develop, and validate new materials, textiles, technologies, and concepts that strengthen our position within personal protective equipment (PPE).

 

You will report to the Innovation & Sustainability Lead and work closely with Product Line Directors, Product Managers, R&D, Sourcing, and external suppliers and partners. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that combines project management, prototype validation, and innovation roadmap ownership.

 

The role is based in Stockholm and may offer future opportunities for relocation to Asia.

 

 

Main Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Research, identify, and evaluate new innovative materials, services, and technologies across both product lines.
  • Implement the innovative materials, services and trends into the innovation roadmap, aligned with Product Lines and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to identify improvement and innovation opportunities within existing products and portfolios.
  • Manage and execute cross-functional innovation projects end-to-end, from concept through feasibility, prototyping, piloting, and handover to the Product Management Framework (PMF), including sustainable innovation projects integrating ecodesign principles.  
  • Build and maintain a structured library of tested and verified innovative materials, components, and technologies.  
  • Drive, plan and conduct hands-on the innovation work, including testing and participation in pilot trials with internal functions and external suppliers to secure the technical and commercial feasibility of new materials and technologies.
  • Analyse, document, and report on experimental data and project findings; communicate results clearly to internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the intellectual property (IP) strategy by identifying, documenting, and supporting protection of innovations aligned with the innovation roadmap.

 

 

Requirements

  • Master’s of Science in engineering.
  • 3-5 years of in product innovation, R&D and/or pre-development projects, preferably within apparel, footwear, textiles, plastics, or PPE industries.
  • Project Management skills and documented experience with innovation project management.
  • Experience with working with suppliers in Asia, Europe, or other is considered as a plus.
  • Analytical capability with solid understanding of materials science and/or product technology relevant to PPE and business acumen.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, additional languages such as Swedish, Mandarin are a plus.
  • Willing to travel, minimum of travelling will be to our sites in Jokipii (Finland) and Leksand (Sweden), plus to fairs and suppliers in Europe and Asia. Travelling required on a min bi-weekly basis.
